Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.
PSG has now claimed the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.
Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.
The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.
However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the final seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.
Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
